Steve Sr started working in the automotive industry in 1967 at Spring Service Company here in Wilmington, NC. Steve’s grandfather opened Spring Service back in 1946! Knowing he wanted to own his own business one day, Steve graduated from UNCW with a B.S. in Accounting in 1972. Later on in 1991, Steve Sr. and his son (Steve Jr) broke off from Spring Service and opened their own business called Alternator Specialist. Being in the industry for over 50 years, Steve Sr. is the guy everyone wants to talk to when they call the shop! Between running the sales counter, answering technical phone calls, rebuilding units, and servicing vehicles, he is ALWAYS busy! In what free-time he has, he enjoys playing tennis and spending time with family. Steve and his wife of 50 years, Dorothy, reside here in Wilmington. Together they have 2 children, 5 grandchildren, 5 “grand-dogs” and 2 “grand-birds”.

Steve Jr. started working at Spring Service with his father and grandfather back in 1985. He and his dad broke off from the family business in 1991 to start their own shop called Alternator Specialist… and he’s been here ever since! There’s not much auto-electric work that Steve Jr can’t do, but his favorite jobs are trouble-shooting electrical problems on industrial and marine applications. He also operates all the company’s mobile operation calls. In his free-time, Steve likes to go camping in the N.C. mountains, Myrtle Beach, or wherever he can find a spot to drop his camper! He is also an avid tennis player and enjoys serving in his church. Steve resides in Winnabow, NC with his wife, 2 dogs, and pet bird!

Brittney graduated from UNCW in 2016 with a B.S. in Operations Management. She manages the company’s sales, inventory, and purchasing. Whether she’s handling vendor/customer relations, creating purchase orders, or running sales and costs analyses, she tries to ensure the company is operating at it’s maximum potential. Brittney likes to play tennis and basketball in her free-time. She also enjoys serving in her church’s children and youth ministries. Brittney resides in Wilmington with her incredibly awesome husband, John Ray, and their pet bird, Ria.

Sheila has been with Alternator Specialist since 1992. She graduated from UNCW with a B.S. in Accounting and has been running numbers ever since! Sheila manages all company financials including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and company payroll. She also stays busy outside of the office with her 3 daughters, 2 dogs, and husband… whew!

Bonnie-Jeanne has been with Alternator Specialist since 2005. As our office manager, she is truly a jack-of-all-trades! From managing accounts, to deliveries, to shipping & receiving… she can do it all! When she is not in the office, she stays busy with her professional photography business that she operates here in Wilmington. Bonnie-Jeanne is also very active in her church and enjoys serving there whenever she can. She and her husband, Stevie, reside in Winnabow, NC with their two dogs and pet bird!

Jim has been working with Alternator Specialist for 24 years! He is our go-to guy when it comes to rebuilding alternators, starters, and motors (especially the unique/difficult units). Jim has grown to be a customer favorite over the years. If you can’t find him at work, you know he must be somewhere playing golf! Jim resides in Willard, NC with his two children who are his pride and joy!

While Jesse has only been with Alternator Specialist since 2017, he has been working in the auto-electric industry for over 50 years! He started working with his father in Guadalajara, Mexico when he was just 12 years old. Jesse has owned his own auto-electric companies in both California and Washington state. He has also worked for a nationally known auto-electric company in Seattle, Washington called Romaine Electric. He and his wife of 38 years later moved to the east coast which is how Jesse ended up working here with us at Alternator Specialist.

Brooke is a full-time student at East Carolina University, but she works at Alternator Specialist during the summer and any other school breaks. She makes deliveries, checks in parts, and helps with some of the company’s accounting paperwork. When she’s not working or studying, Brooke enjoys spending her free-time with her dog, Duke, out on the beach!
